Indian javelin throwers Shivpal Singh and Annu Rani are all set to make their debut in the prestigious Diamond League Series in Oslo which is scheduled to begin on June 13. Earlier this year, both the athletes had clinched the silver medal at the 23rd Asian Athletics Championships in Doha.

After a brilliant run at the 23rd Asian Athletics Championships, India’s Shivpal Singh will now be seen at the famous Diamond League Series in Oslo next month. Shivpal had put up a great show in the absence of Javelin star Neeraj Chopra in Doha to assure a medal for India. He had bagged the silver medal with his personal best throw of 86.23m. The 23-year-old Indian athlete has also booked a place for the World Athletics Championships to be held in Qatar’s national capital in September and October this year.

“Javelin Thrower Shivpal Singh will compete at #iaaf @Diamond_League Oslo leg on 13th June 2019,” the AFI tweeted.

Annu will also compete in the Diamond League Series in the women’s category. She had also brought laurels for the country with a silver medal at the Asian Championships last month. After setting up a national record during the Federation Cup in Patiala with a 62.34m throw, Rani fell two metres short at the continental event and managed only 60.22 metres. She has also made it to the World Championships.
