Indian sprinter Dutee Chand has been selected in the 25-member squad representing India at the Doha World Championships commencing later this month. The in-form sprinter who won gold earlier this year at the World University Games at Napoli, announced her selection via her Twitter on Tuesday.

Scheduled to begin from September 27 this year, the Doha World Championships would witness a 25-member Indian squad, including Dutee Chand who announced her inclusion through social media. “I am selected in the 25-member national team for #DohaWorldChampionships, starting September 27. Wish me luck and SPEED”, Dutee Chand revealed on her Twitter account.

Chand has been in an exceptional form this year, recording a gold medal and clocking a remarkable 11.32 seconds at the World University Games in Napoli. With an amazing timing of 11.24 seconds, Chand also holds the 100m National Record.

“With years of hardwork and your blessings, I have yet again broken the record by winning the gold in the 100m dash in 11.32s at the World University Games, Napoli. In the pictures, are the winners too, with a heart of gold from Germany and Sweden @Napoli2019_ita”, Chand further added.

Chand has been only the third Indian woman to have ever qualified for the Women's 100 metres event at the Summer Olympic Games. However, in the 2016 Rio Olympics, her 11.69s in the prelims wasn’t enough to get her through to the next round. In 2018, Chand managed to clinch the silver medal in the women's 100m event at the Jakarta Asian Games that was also India's first medal in this event since 1998.
