Indian duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Kuhoo Garg lost to Tang Jie Chen and Ee Wei Toh of Malaysia in the mixed doubles quarter-final match of BWF World Junior Championships in Bilbao on Friday. They went down by a score of 21-13, 12-21, 19-21 in 45 minutes.

Rankireddy and Garg are the only Indian pair to reach at the quarter-final stage of this prestigious event and they didn’t disappoint the fans by putting a valiant effort, but couldn’t pull off a victory in the end. In a game that lasted 45 minutes, Rankireddy and Garg showed remarkable resilience to tackle their Malaysian counter-parts.

Partnering with Krishna Prasad Garaga for Men’s doubles, Rankireddy lost to the Korean combination of Hong Sub Lee and Su-Min Lim in a grueling 65-minute pre-quarter-final battle by 21-18, 16-21, 20-22.

In the Men’s singles, 15-year-old Lakshya Sen went down to fifth-seeded Sun Feixiang by 21-17, 8-21, 21-13 to end his campaign in the Pre-quarter finals.

Shikha Gautam lost to second-seeded Chen Yufei of China with a 13-21, 10-21 while 15-year-old Aakarshi Kashyap's challenge was ended by Natsuki Oie of Japan in stright sets of 15-21, 7-21.
