The BWF World Badminton Championships in Glasgow, Scotland is going to be a special event for the Indian badminton fans who have a lot of hope relying on the likes of Srikanth Kidambi, PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, and Sai Praneeth who have dominated the world badminton in the recent past.

World No. 5 and two-time bronze medalist in the event, PV Sindhu is seeded fourth in the women's singles category right below Olympic gold medalist and two-time winner Carolina Marin. The other star shuttler from India, Saina Nehwal, who clinched the silver in the 2015 edition of the competition, is seeded 12th in the competition.

In men's singles, India's Srikanth Kidambi is seeded 8th who has been in sensational form bagging back to back Super Series titles in Indonesia and Australia apart from reaching the finals of three straight Super Series events. Japan's Akane Yamaguchi was seeded first in the category after World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei withdrew from the tournament. Korea's Sung Ji Hyun was seeded second in the grand event.

Ajay Jayaram and Sai Praneeth have been seeded 13th and 15th in the men's singles category respectively while World No. 28 Sameer Verma will begin his campaign as an unseeded player.

The only seeded mixed doubles pair from India was the duo of Pranav Chopra and Sikki Reddy who will kick off their campaign seeded 15th after bagging the Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold in January this year.
