The latest BWF World rankings released on Thursday saw India’s star shuttler PV Sindhu move up a spot to the fourth place as Kidambi Srikanth fell to the tenth spot in the standings. Saina Nehwal, B Sai Praneeth, HS Prannoy, and Ajay Jayaram, however, didn’t see any change in their rankings.

Sindhu kept her winning run intact at the World Championships with a thrilling 19-21 23-21 21-17 come back win over Hong Kong’s Cheung Ngan Yi in the pre-quarters after she was announced to have moved up to the fourth spot.

Kidambi Srikanth, on the other hand, slipped two places to the 10 position in the latest BWF World rankings but would expect to regain them soon, as he defeated World Number 18, Anders Antonsen of Denmark in men's singles 21-14 21-18, to reach the quarter-finals.

India have sent a huge contingent of 21 shuttlers to the ongoing World Championship which also includes the likes of Saina Nehwal (16th), B Sai Praneeth (19th), HS Prannoy (15th) and Ajay Jayaram (17th), all of whom remained static in their respective positions. Nehwal continued her fine run in the tournament by beating Korea’s Sung Ji Hyun 21-19 21-15, while Praneeth and Jayaram were eliminated by China’s Chou Tien Chen and Chen Long respectively.

Prannoy had started the month by moving up two places in the rankings despite the hindrances caused by injuries, while Sourabh Verma managed to get the 32 spot.  Apart from them, Parupalli Kashyap has also jumped one place to be 46th in the latest rankings.

In the women’s doubles section, the pair, Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy rose a place to the 24 spot while the men's pair of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy remained unmoved in the 20th spot. There were no Indian pair in the top 25 of men's doubles rankings.
