Indian badminton fanatics were in for a treat on Sunday as teen Indian shuttlers Satwiksairaj Rakireddy and Chirag Shetty clinched the Vietnam International title and received $20,000 prize money in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The Indian duo lost their opening game but bounced back and put up a great performance to win the next two games. They were pitted against the Thai pair of Trawut Potieng and Nanthakam Yordphaisong. The 16-year old Rankirddy and 19-year old Shetty emerged victorious by defeating the competitors in three games, 17-21,21-9,21-15.

This the first title of the year for them as a team and their fifth overall title. The young team has won Mauritius International series, the India International series, the India International challenge and the Bangladesh International challenge already. These wins helped them to get into the top 70 of the world rankings. The start to the new season was not as expected and they are placed in the 59th spot for the time being.

The team faced early losses at the Grand Prix Gold tournaments and the Syed Modi International despite their fighting performances.

The team found its winning touch again at the Vietnam International where they defeated the second-seeded Markis Kido and Hendra Aprida Gunawan in the semi-finals. The Indonesian team was a deadly threat to the Indian duo's title progress. The rivals started strongly winning the first game 21-16, but the determined Indian team did not bow down and bounced back to win the next two games 21-11 and 21-18.
