Indian star shuttler Saina Nehwal pu forward yet another remarkable effort as she defeated Nozomi Okuhara and became the only Indian woman in the semi-final at Denmark Open. Srikanth sailed into the men’s single semis after he stopped compatriot Sameer Verma’s charge in the quarterfinals.

The very first game of the match wasn't so lucky for Nehwal as after an exhausting 38 points against Okuhara, it was the latter who emerged successful by a score of 17-21. In the second game, however, Nehwal came roaring back to level proceedings at one game apiece after sealing the game 21-16. With Okuhara possessing one of the best records in the decider, Saina had a challenge on her hands. However, the Indian was in no mood to let her chance slip away and took the final game 21-12 in a one-sided game.

Earlier in the day, on Thursday, Srikanth sailed into the men’s single semis after he stopped compatriot Sameer Verma’s charge in the quarterfinals. Srikanth ended Verma’s impressive run with a 22-20, 19-21, and 23-21 win in the quarter-final match in Odense.
