BWF Korea Open | Saina Nehwal storms into quarter-finals after beating Korea’s Kim Ga Eun

Saina Nehwal marched into the quarter-finals as she registered a hard-fought win over Kim Ga Eun of Korea in straight sets by identical scores of 21-18, 21-18 at the BWF Korea Open on Wednesday. Nehwal will now face-off against the winner of the match between Nozomi Okuhara and Yip Pui Yin,

Keeping her focus on the ongoing BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament in Korea, Saina Nehwal finished her second round match in 37 minutes by registering a 21-18. 21-18 win over Korean player - Kim Ga Eun. 

Saina jumped to a 7-2 lead in a short time against the lower-ranked Korean in the first game but allowed her opponent to come back and level the scores at 16-16. However, she dropped just two points from there onwards and ran out a 21-18 win in the first game. 

But things were different in the second game as Kim took charge which saw Saina drop to a 1-8 score in the second game. At 11-6, the game was still in favour of the World No. 78 from Korea. But Saina displayed her experience as she managed to make it 10-12. The Indian went on to lead 16-13 and ensured a victory after winning the game by an identical scoreline of 21-18. Nehwal will face the winner of the match between China’s Yip Pui Yin and third-seeded Nozomi Okuhara.
