Indian men’s duo of Swastikairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty continued their blistering form in the Thailand Open as they overcame the South Korean duo of Ko Sung Hyun and Shin Baek Cheol. With no other Indian shuttlers left in the Super 500 tournament, the duo would be India’s only hope tomorrow.

Doubles hasn’t really been India’s strength in the super series and the year-long badminton tournaments. However, the young duo of Swastiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty might just be able to change that as they reach the summit clash of the Thailand Open.

The duo started off by matching toe to toe with the South Korean pair and winning the first game 22-20 as it was taken right down to the wire. However, it had taken a lot from their body and although they pushed to their limits in the next game as well, they eventually fell short at 24-22.

But, the first two games had completely drained out the South Korean pair as well and the match was purely the battle of stamina ahead of the decider. And the Indian managed to capitalize on it by an easy 21-9 win in the decider.

However, their next task would be a huge one as they would be taking on China’s Li Jun Hui and Liu Yu Chan, and they would definitely want to be at their very best to get the better of the Chinese pair.
