Amongst the Indian female athletes, ace shuttler PV Sindhu was the only one who could manage to sneak in Forbes list of world's highest-paid female athletes. While tennis Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka are sitting first and second, Sindhu is sitting tied on the 13th place on the list.

Sindhu might not have seen silverware for a while now in her specialty, but her earning hasn’t plummeted for that with the Forbes naming her among the top 15 highest paid female athletes in the world in the 2019 list released on Tuesday. Her total earnings have been 5.5 million dollars.

"Sindhu remains India's most marketable female athlete. She became the first Indian to win the season-ending BWF World Tour finals in 2018," Forbes said, reported AFP.

Forbes has taken into consideration the earnings tally of the prize money, the salaries, the bonuses, the endorsements and appearance fees between June 2018 and 2019.  And there were 15 female athletes, who made at least $5 million during that time period.

As per them, around 1,300 male athletes would be hitting that mark this year. It has also been revealed that the top 15 female athletes earned a cumulative $146 million, a steady rise compared to the $130 million last year.

While Williams has a total earning of $29.2 million, Osaka has a total earning of $24.3 million with Forbes mentioning that tennis would remains the most surefire way for female athletes to make millions.
