LIVE BWF World Championships | Round 1 – Day 2
With HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth, and B Sai Praneeth all winning their respective games on the first day of the round 1 in the BWF World Championships, India would see more doubles event on the second day, before PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal start their campaign in the round 2.
HS Prannoy would have a tough task ahead of him as he faces a legend of the game in Lin Dan after he defeated Finland’s Heino, while B Sai Praneeth would be up against the winner of Lee Dong Kyun and Daniel Fan.
The women’s pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy would be up against Chinese Taipei’s Chang Ching Hui and Yang Ching Tun. And the fact that none of them have played each other before, this match could spring a surprise, despite the Indian pair being the more experienced and established one.
The responsibility for the men’s doubles pair of MR Arjun and Ramchandran Shlok doubles with Swastiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty pulling out. They would be facing localites Tobias Kuenzi and Oliver Schaller in the round 1. Another men’s doubles pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy would be facing France’s Thomas Gicquel and Ronan Labar.
The third men’s pair of Arun George and Shanyam Shukla would be facing Japan’s Takuto Inoue and Yuki Kaneko, while the women’s doubles pair of Pooja Dandu and Sanjana Santosh would be playing Taiwan’s Hsu Ya Ching and Hu Ling Fang.
