Denmark badminton legend Morten Frost has remarked that Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu being in the top 10 of women’s singles says a lot of India’s strength. He has also mentioned that Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap greatly influenced the flourishing of the sport throughout the nation.

Ever since Saina won the Commonwealth Gold medal in 2010, badminton in India has been in a flourishing ride and in the form of Saina and Sindhu, India has two Olympic medalists as well. That made the world to look India in a more respectable way as far as the women's badminton is concerned and Frost feels that the women’s singles is the most competitive amongst the other categories and having two players within the top 10 reveals more about India’s strength.

The Danish legend also held Saina and Parupalli Kashyap in high regard as he referred to Indian badminton’s favourite couple as role models to the younger generations of the nation.

"The big breakthrough in Indian men's singles was through Kashyap, who showed new generation that Indians can make impact in singles. He was the first one to make himself noticed. Saina came as well in the women's singles and became good role models - that had a great influence on what happened in the last 10 years." Frost was quoted as saying by ToI.

"If you look internationally, women's singles is the most competitive category in the world and you have two players (Saina and Sindhu) in the top 10 which speaks a lot of your strength. I think Sameer Verma is coming up nicely, he is 12 or 13 in the world, which is pretty awesome," he was quoted as saying by the ToI.

The legendary badminton player was appointed as the consultant for the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy and is also set to visit the professional training centre at Bengaluru frequently this year. He had expressed that he had been following Indian badminton closely and felt that it was a great opportunity for him to work with the young and talented lot.

"It is a great opportunity to work with young players. I have followed the Indian badminton quite closely and also everybody else. India have done well in recent years and is definitely coming out especially in singles. So when given this opportunity by my old friends Prakash Padukone and Vimal Kumar, I readily agreed. It's nice to give it to the next generation," said Frost about his new assignment.
