Lakshya Sen, ranked 104, won 21-14, 21-15 in a 46-minute tie against South Korea’s over Ha Young-Woong in the China Masters to seal a spot in the last eight of the tournament. Meanwhile, in the Swiss Open, Subhankar Dey and Riya Mookerjee also advanced to men's and women's singles quarters.

Asian junior champion, Lakshya Sen, sealed a spot in the men's singles quarter-finals of the ongoing China Masters badminton tournament with a comfortable straight-game victory over Ha Young-woong of South Korea on Thursday. Sen, who is ranked 104 in the world, won his pre-quarter encounter against the South Korean by a scoreline of 21-14, 21-15 in a 46-minute match held at Lingshui. Sen will take on Zhou Zeqi of China in the quarter-final match on Friday.

In the Swiss Open, India’s Subhankar Dey and Riya Mookerjee advanced to men's and women's singles quarterfinals respectively on Thursday. Dey made his way to a 12-21, 22-20, 21-17 win over fifth seed Jonatan Christie of Indonesia in a contest that lasted one hour and 11 minutes. His female compatriot, Mookerjee, made it to the quarterfinals after her opponent from Canada, Michelle Li retired with the scores 18-16 in favour of the Indian.

Dey will go up against Olympic champion and two-time All England champion Chen Long of China in the quarters, while Mookerjee will take on top seeded Chinese Chen Yufei. In the women's doubles encounter, Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy registered a straight-game 21-14, 21-17 win over the pair of Nadia Fankhauser of Switzerland and Iris Tabeling of the Netherlands to enter the quarterfinals.
