Pro boxer Vaibhav Yadav crowned WBC Asia Silver Welterweight Champion

Vaibhav Yadav was crowned as the WBC Asia Silver Welterweight Champion after defeating Thailandā€™s Fahpetch Singmanassak in a thrilling encounter held in Pattaya, Thailand. Yadav, who is a cousin of CWG gold medallist Vikas Krishan, clinched a third-round knockout over Singmanassak.

Indian pro boxer Vaibhav Yadav was recently-crowned the WBC Asia silver welterweight champion after he defeated Thailandā€™s Fahpetch Singmanassak in a scintillating bout that was held in Pattaya. The 24-year-old Indian boxer was made to work hard for his win but he secured the title by claiming a third-round knockout win over local favourite Singmanassak.Ā 

Yadav is nicknamed ā€˜Ahir boxerā€™ and hails from Delhi having a record of 5-1-0 on the pro circuit thus far. The title fight, which took place on Sunday night, was conducted in accordance with the Asian Boxing Council and approved by the World Boxing Council (WBC).

Yadav is the cousin of Commonwealth Games gold medallist - Vikas Krishan. The middleweight boxer became the first Indian male boxer to win gold medals at both the Asian and the Commonwealth Games. On 15 November 2018, the Asian games bronze-medalist signed a multiyear promotional contract with American based Top Rank.Ā
