According to a TOI report, the sports ministry probe has revealed that boxer Manoj Kumar competed at the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games in 2018 carrying a hip injury. The pugilist was carrying the injury 2016 but didnāt inform about it to the ministry and Sports Authority of India (SAI).
A recent probe conducted by the sports ministry has found out that Manoj was suffering from a hip joint injury since 2016 but hid it from the government as well as SAI. He participated in the 69 kg welterweight category with the injury during the prestigious Commonwealth Games and Asian Games in 2018 carrying the injury as well.
The newspaper has also learnt that the ministry has made a complete report against Manoj. However, the boxer had recently complained that SAI was not giving him aĀ financial assistant for the treatment. Manoj was excluded from the list of national campers in NIS, Patiala and he is not a part of the Target Olympic Podium (TOP) scheme.
The sports ministry probe report also revealed that the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) was aware of Manojās injury but still allowed the boxer to participate in both the events. However, the federation has now found a sponsor for Manoj and he is recovering after the treatment at a hospital in Mumbai.Ā

Manoj has also clarified his point regarding the financial benefit from SAI and competing at the CWG and Asiad last year saying that he has all the e-mails, letters and reports with him.
