India chess legend Viswanathan Anandā€™s hunt for his first victory continued as he registered a draw against American Wesley So in the fourth round of Grand Chess Tour. Meanwhile, former World Champion Magnus Carlsen also played out an entertaining draw against Shakhriyar Mamedyarov of Azerbaijan.

Five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand's hunt for his first victory continued as he played out a draw against American Wesley So in the fourth round of Grand Chess Tour. Anand suffered an unfortunate loss in the first round against Ian Nepomniachtchi of Russia. However, the five-time world champion has managed to play three consecutive draws on the trot to recover well from his initial setback.

Anand was at the top of his game against Wesley as he began the match by playing the black side of an unorthodox English opening. The Indian livened things up by pushing his king knight pawn in the early middle game stage however, the American forced the draw after 32 moves.

The fourth round was the only round of the tournament where all the matches ended in a draw. World champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway lit up the proceedings against Shakhriyar Mamedyarov of Azerbaijan. Both sides pushed for checkmate with Carlsen playing white but the game ended in a draw after 59 moves when the last pawn left the board.
