Nitish Rana and Jasprit Bumrah were the tormentors in chief as Mumbai Indians secured a second successive home win after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 4 wickets. SRH, who came into the game with a two-game winning streak, looked well short of their usual best in the absence of Moises Henriques.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

David Warner - (7/10)

The Hyderabad skipper gave his side yet another strong start smashing Malinga for two consecutive boundaries in his second over. However, the Aussie batsman was dismissed when greed got the better of him and he tried to hit Harbhajan Singh for a second consecutive six and ended up edging a reverse sweep to Parthiv Patel.

Shikhar Dhawan - (6/10)

The Delhi opener had a nervy start to the innings and took his time in adjusting to the pace of the pitch. However, Dhawan finally cut loose in the 7th over smashing Mitchell McClenaghan for 15 runs. But just like the first match of the season, Dhawan failed to reach his half-century as he was undone by a dipping full toss from McClenaghan.

Deepak Hooda - (5/10)

Hooda failed to make any sort of real impact on the match scoring just nine runs before being deceived by a Harbhajan's Singh doosra. He was expensive with the ball as well and despite picking up the wicket of Patel, a lot more is expected from the 21-year-old.

Yuvraj Singh - (4/10)

In the absence of Henriques, Yuvraj Singh was the man who was expected to settle the SRH middle order. However, the Indian batsman was unable to soak up the pressure and ultimately chopped a Hardik Pandya delivery back onto the stumps and made his way back after adding just 5 runs to the total.

Ben Cutting - (6/10)

Ben Cutting started his innings with a boundary and went on to smash Malinga for consecutive boundaries in the next over before Bumrah ended Cutting's cameo with a well-directed yorker. He, too, was expensive with the ball going at an economy of 9 in his two overs.

Naman Ojha - (5/10)

The wicketkeeper-batsman walked onto the crease in the 18th over but succumbed to pressure and was dismissed by Lasith Malinga using a disguised slower one. Needs to contribute more with the bat on the rare occasions when the top order fails.

Vijay Shankar - (3/10)

Shankar’s first outing of the season was one to forget as he could only manage 1 run before falling prey to a Malinga delivery. Considering the fact that he was promoted up the batting order due to his explosive style, he would be disappointed with his contribution.

Rashid Khan - (7/10)

The only man in the SRH bowling lineup who genuinely seemed to trouble the Mumbai batsmen. Got the wicket of Rohit Sharma off a googly but failed to make anymore inroads. It was a shame that he was hit for a six off his second last delivery as it took the shine off what could have been brilliant figures.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar - (7/10)

Last season’s purple cap winner has his prized possession back on his head after picking up three wickets. He was pretty impressive with his economy as well giving away just 21 runs in his four overs.

Ashish Nehra - (4/10)

A bad day at the office for the Hyderabad pacer who was smashed all around the ground by the Mumbai batsmen. Even though he picked up the wicket of Jos Buttler, 46 runs of four overs is just not acceptable from the 37-year-old.

Mustafizur Rahman - (4/10)

So much was expected from the Bangladeshi pacer on his return to the league but the excitement quickly “fizzed” out after he conceded 19 runs of the first over. Even though, his eventual economy was at 12.75, that was because the batsmen didn’t have to take any risks.

Mumbai Indians

Parthiv Patel - (8/10)

Parthiv Patel continued his decent form in the IPL by providing his side with a strong start yet again. He started off by hitting Nehra for two boundaries and after Buttler’s dismissal made sure that Mumbai were never behind the asking rate. It was a shame that he failed to complete a half-century falling for 39 of just 24 balls runs.

Jos Buttler - (6/10)

Jos Buttler made his intent clear right from the off when he hit Kumar for a boundary in the first over. He seemed to be dealing in boundaries with 12 out of his 14 runs coming off just three shots.

Rohit Sharma - (3/10)

The skipper struggled to get going yet again and was unable to get into double figures for a third game running. Sharma failed to pick up a Rashid Khan googly and was dismissed for just 4 runs. Needs to start contributing more runs if he wants to make it to the Champions Trophy team.

Nitish Rana - (8/10)

How brilliant has this guy been? Nitish continued his spectacular form and was instrumental in setting up the home side’s win. He paced his innings perfectly upping the tempo when the team needed it and just rotated the strike at all other times He was, eventually, bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar for 45 runs off just 36 balls.

Kieron Pollard - (5/10)

The strong West Indian was expected to get Mumbai Indians over the line with his strong hitting but he failed to live up to those expectations. He scored a run a ball 11 before being dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Krunal Pandya - (6/10)

The other Pandya brother did not have a good day with the ball but his contribution with the bat was invaluable scoring 37 runs off 20 balls. His innings consisted of 3 fours and 3 sixes and ended up with a strike rate of 185.

Hardik Pandya - (7/10)

Hardik Pandya started strong and bowled with discipline and was rewarded with the important wicket of Yuvraj Singh who could have hurt Mumbai's chances of winning had he stayed on the crease for an extended period of time.

Harbhajan Singh - (9/10)

Harbhajan started things off for the home side bowled with varying pace as he kept the opening batsman in check. The turbanator got the first breakthrough for his side dismissing the in-form David Warner and ending an 81-run SRH partnership. He picked up another wicket before the end finishing with figures of 23-2.

Lasith Malinga - (7/10)

Lasith Malinga started strongly giving away just 2 runs in his first over. Even though he was expensive in his middle spell, the Sri Lankan bowler bounced back in the end and ended up with respectable figures of 1/30.

Mitchell McClenaghan - (4/10)

The Kiwi was very expensive in his four-over spell conceding 42 runs in his allotted four overs. Even though he picked up the important wicket of Shikhar Dhawan, McClenaghan will be disappointed with his performance.

Jasprit Bumrah - (8/10)

Looks like Bumrah has finally found his wicket-taking rhythm back again. The Mumbaikar bowled splendidly and dismissed the dangerous Ben Cutting who was looking menacing at the crease. He bowled the final over and gave away just 5 runs claiming 2 wickets to finish with impressive figures of 3/24.
