From being touted as the best batting lineup in the tournament to getting all-out for lowest ever IPL total, RCB’s batting has come a full circle today. Chasing a modest 132-run target, the visitors succumbed to the pressure generated by the KKR pacers be dismissed for a paltry 49.

Kolkata Knight Riders (Playing XI):

Gautam Gambhir- (6/10)

Unlike the last game, Gambhir tried to accelerate his innings from the start and seemed to be successful until Tymal Mills got the better of him. His 48-run stand with Narine was the only good partnership in the hosts’ first-innings performance.

Sunil Narine- (8/10)

Sunil Narine has become a specialist batsman for the KKR side and no one would believe he was a regular number 9 batter. He started where he left in the last match and continued dealing in boundaries and took just four singles in his 34-run innings. He was the highest run getter for KKR and helped his side reach a formidable 131.

Robin Uthappa- (3/10)

Uthappa started his innings with a beautiful drive and it looked like he would carry the KKR innings to a huge total but the Karnataka lad was caught plumb in front of the wickets for 11 by a Samuel Badree delivery.

Manish Pandey- (5/10)

Manish Pandey came onto the crease in the 6th over and the KKR fans expected nothing but a brilliant knock from the Karnataka lad who had played a couple of splendid knocks to rally his team to victory in the recent past. Although he chipped in with vital 14 runs with respect to the paltry target but he himself expected more from him.

Yusuf Pathan- (4/10)

The 34-year old came out at a time when the KKR side needed him to step up and play a mature innings to set up a competitive target for the visitors. But Pathan threw away his wicket to Chahal, who outfoxed him for 8.

Suryakumar Yadav- (6/10)

Yadav took all the time in the world to try and settle his nerves under pressure but it seemed the pressure was mounting on the Mumbaikar as he top-edged a Pawan Negi delivery and walked back to the pavilion with a score of 15.

Colin de Grandhomme- (8/10)

The all-rounder had a miserable day with the bat and was dismissed for a duck but he bounced back in the game with his brilliant bowling performance and wrapped up the RCB innings by dismissing the tail-enders. He gave away only 4 runs in 1.4 overs and bagged 3 wickets. He will definitely cherish these figures for a long long time.

Chris Woakes- (9/10)

Woakes utilised the freshness of the surface and flaunted his world class swing bowling skills. He dismissed Gayle and Binny in one over and contributed in the landslide victory. Earlier in the day, he chipped in with 18 runs which would have been the highest score if he was at the other side. He definitely deserves a 9 for his figures of 6-3 from 2 overs and a valiant contribution with the bat

Nathan Coulter-Nile- (9/10)

The Aussie gave the home fans the best of the treat with his splendid swing bowling. He sent the vicious Kohli packing in the very first over and set up the perfect platform for the victory. He bagged the man of the match award for his figures of 21-3 from 3 overs.

Umesh Yadav- (8/10)

Umesh Yadav did a fabulous job by keeping the RCB batsmen in check which was exactly his side needed while defending a low score. He bowled with panache and swung the ball both ways to finish with figures of 15-1 from 3 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav- (6/10)

The chinaman bowler did not get a chance to bowl as the KKR pacers put up a great show and led the home side to an easy win. He definitely missed bowling though and we hope to see him in action in the next match.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Chris Gayle - (1/10)

In games when wickets are falling all around, you need a player to rescue you from that slump. The big West Indian had already played 16 balls and was the last real batsman left in the team when he decided to go after Woakes with the required run rate was a shade over 6. He really needs to understand what his team needs rather and live up to his reputation.

Virat Kohli - (4/10)

The skipper made some incredible decisions as the captain but failed to anchor the RCB innings with the bat and was dismissed for a duck. Had he known what was to follow, Kohli would have definitely played a different shot against Coulter-Nile.

AB de Villiers - (2/10)

With Kohli back in the dressing room and not a lot of talent after him, the South African needed to be smarter with his shot selection. He had already scored two boundaries when he decided to pull Coulter-Nile who was bowling with a lot of control. Maybe that is why he is still not considered among the true legends of the game alongside Tendulkar and co.

Kedar Jadhav- (4/10)

The RCB wicketkeeper was the highest run-getter for his side with 9 runs but he would surely want to forget this match and his miserable innings.

Mandeep Singh- (3/10)

The poor run for the youngster continues as he failed to dismiss a wide short delivery to the boundary and instead provided the opposition with an easy catch.

Stuart Binny- (2/10)

He is 32 but played like a 16-year old. With the ball swinging all around, there is no reason to fish outside the off-stump. Gayle had just been dismissed and he was quite literally the last recognised batsman available for RCB. But he became careless and edged one to Uthappa. It will be pretty interesting to see if he can retain his place for the next game.

Pawan Negi- (3/10)

Negi was in his wicket-taking rhythm today and sent Suryakumar Yadav and Nathan Coulter-Nile packing on two consecutive deliveries. He bowled with an economy of 5rpo and choked the KKR batsman for runs. With the bat, however, he still leaves a lot to be desired.

Tymal Mills - (6/10)

The English pacer got the first breakthrough for his side but failed to utilise the swinging strip to the fullest and ended up expensively with figures of 31-2 from his quota of 4 overs. He would have surely realised the potential the pitch had after he saw the KKR pacers dismantle his side.

Sreenath Aravind - (5/10)

The Karnataka lad was no different from Mills and failed to utilise the moisture of the pitch to swing the ball. He picked up the consolation wicket of Kuldeep Yadav to wrap up the KKR innings but needs to step up his game in terms of wickets to cement his position in the side.

Samuel Badree- (5/10)

The spinner was greeted by three boundaries and a maximum from his compatriot Narine when he started the proceedings for the RCB side. Although he managed to dismiss Uthappa he was very expensive (33-1 from 4 overs) as the match boiled down to a low-scoring event.

Yuzvendra Chahal- (8/10)

The leggie continued his impressive run in the tournament and was the pick amongst the RCB bowlers. He bowled economically and built pressure on the home side which got him 3 important wickets conceding a mere 16 runs in his 4 overs.
