Shikhar Dhawan (77) and Kane Williamson (54) were the real stars of the show as Sunrisers Hyderabad destroyed the Kings XI Punjab in their own back yard. With the ball, it was Rashid Khan’s phenomenal display that stopped Punjab’s acceleration before it could even get started.

Here are the player ratings from the game :

Sunrisers Hyderabad

David Warner - (7/10)

The SRH captain took his time settling down but once he got his eye in, it was carnage. He took 16 runs off Axar Patel's first over on his way to reaching his 3rd fifty of the tournament. A true captain's innings. Points reduced for being the latest one to drop a sitter.

Shikhar Dhawan - (9/10)

He came out today as if he had a point to prove and signalled his intent early by thrashing the Punjab bowlers all across the ground. The Indian opener, however, would be slightly disappointed that he was not able to get more than the 77 he scored.

He just keeps showing what a good player he is. He scored at an astonishing strike rate of 200 and by providing the fuel for the blast in the death overs, he was the main reason SRH were able to go over the 200-run mark.

Moises Henriques - (5/10)

Didn’t have too much to do with the bat but with the ball he was, well, dreadful. Conceded 39 runs in his three overs proving that he is not a reliable part time bowler for the Sunrisers.

Yuvraj Singh - (4/10)

Came out all guns blazing but a couple of boundaries later he made his way back to the pavilion after mishitting a Maxwell ball straight into the hands of Axar Patel at long on.

Deepak Hooda - (4/10)

Not a day to remember for the Sunrisers’ all-rounder. His services with the bat were not required today but when handed the ball, he gave away 17 runs in just one over. He then went on to drop the dangerous Marsh and would have breathed a sigh of relief when he caught him later in the match.

Naman Ojha - (5/10)

Not too much to do today. The most we saw him was when he was miked in the second innings.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar - (6/10)

The usual. He came. He bowled. He got the early breakthrough. He came back later and picked up another one. Consistency now needs to be renamed Bhuvneshwar.

Rashid Khan - (7/10)

Brilliant performance from the leggie after a couple of average games. The Afghan gave away just 2 runs in his first two overs that put the pressure back on Punjab just when it looked like the home side were about to accelerate.

Siddharth Kaul - (6/10)

Even though he finished with the best figures (3/36) in the SRH side, his performance wasn’t his best in the SRH shirt. Having said that, the wicket of Maxwell was a crucial one in the context of the game.

Ashish Nehra - (6/10)

He was welcomed back, after a mini break, by Guptill with 15 runs off his first over. The experienced pacer ended up conceding 42 runs in his allotted overs and will need to improve with Siraj waiting in the wings.

Kings XI Punjab

Martin Guptill - (6/10)

The Kiwi was handed his season debut by the Kings in place of the injured Hashim Amla and he didn't disappoint, at least initially. He targeted Nehra, taking 14 runs off the veteran in the first over but it was the same bowler's slower delivery that got the better of him in the next over.

Manan Vohra - (4/10)

The 23-year-old was unable to recreate his brilliant innings against SRH and like his opening partner was done for by a slower delivery.

Glenn Maxwell - (3/10)

Even though he was the best Punjab bowler on the day, his team depend on him when it comes to runs. The Aussie tried playing a cute shot of a Kaul delivery but looked like he forgot the fielding placement as he found Bhuvneshwar at short fine leg.

Shaun Marsh - (8/10)

The only Punjab player who can leave Mohali with his head held high. The best part about his 84 run innings was that there was no slogging, but only proper cricketing shots. If he can keep doing this Punjab might just have a shot at the playoffs

Eoin Morgan - (6/10)

Did well to play second fiddle to Marsh for a majority of the game but when the time came to up the tempo, he just wasn’t able to cope.

Wriddhiman Saha - (2/10)

Yet another disappointing performance by the Indian wicket keeper. After Morgan's dismissal, he was supposed to be the one to partner Marsh and make a game out of it. But poor shot selection cost him his wicket and Punjab the game.

Axar Patel - (4/10)

Having been thrashed for 17 runs in his first over, Patel never recovered from that. He was not even allowed to complete his full set of overs after conceding 34 in the three he bowled.

Mohit Sharma - (4/10)

Like most of the Punjab bowlers, he never really looked comfortable today and it showed in his bowling. He, too, conceded 34 runs in his three overs which resulting in Maxwell bringing a premature end to his contribution for the day.

Anureet Singh - (4/10)

Brought in to replace T Natarajan, the 29-year-old did himself no favours by conceding 26 runs in his first two overs. Considering the fact that he was not used after that, it is highly unlikely that he will play a part in the next game.

Ishant Sharma - (4/10)

Started off brilliantly, giving away just 3 runs in the first over but it was all downhill from there and it ended up with the tall pacer conceding 20 off his last over. His final figures didn't paint a pretty picture as well as he ended up contributing 41 runs to the SRH score.

KC Cariappa - (4/10)

Not what he would have hoped for considering his recent form. Not only did he not claim a wicket, he gave away a massive 42 runs as well. Not a performance he would want to remember.

MATCH KA HERO - Kane Williamson
