Former Australian pacer Brett Lee has praised Virat Kohli’s batting skills and called his technique "impeccable". Virat Kohli has been in impressive form for the last couple of years, but according to Lee, Kohli is yet to hit his peak.

MS Dhoni stepped down from the Test captaincy in December 2014, leaving Virat Kohli to take over the responsibility and the 28-year-old has stepped into his shoes with aplomb. Almost three years on, now, the Indian team is touring Sri Lanka under his captaincy and they are on their way to registering their eighth successive Test series victory. Kohli’s performance throughout his career in all the formats has impressed former Australian cricketer, Brett Lee.

"Virat Kohli’s technique is impeccable; he has improved it a lot over the last few years and gotten a lot tighter with his technique. There’s a lot of hype about him nicking off, certainly as a bowler you could get a few years ago but now he’s changed it. To me it’s his hunger, yes he’s such a talented player but his mental strength, his want and will to score so many runs end on end which is why he’s one of the world’s best batsmen. We haven’t seen the best of Kohli yet. He has many more years to come and is really young,” Lee told official TNPL website.

Lee played 76 Test and 221 ODIs for Australia and picked up 310 and 380 wickets respectively. He is the perfect role model for young pacers and has inspired many youngsters to pick bowling as a career choice. When he was asked about the Indian bowlers of the current crop, he picked Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.

“I’m a fan of all your bowlers when you think who is on display and you’ve got some raw pace. To me it’s some of the guys who can back up Test match after Test match. Mohammad Shami is a guy who when he’s probably fit is a guy that really impresses me  He’s really quick and has good pace. Jasprit Bumrah is definitely one to watch out for, a unique action works for him and he’s got good pace as well. You’ve got guys who can bowl over 140 kph consistently. Keeping them on the park and ensuring they are injury-free is more important in my opinion,” he replied.

17-year-old Washington Sundar represented India at the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, and made headlines when he replaced R Ashwin at Rising Pune Supergiant in the 2017 IPL. He bowled at an impressive economy rate to help his side reach the finals.

"I am a big fan of Washington Sundar. He is a very exciting player. He’s a player who offers a lot with the bat and ball. He is tall, confident, and very good in the field. Definitely a player for the future. Absolutely terrific!”
