Ravindra Jadeja, the Player of the Match in the second Test against Sri Lanka, has toppled Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan to take the top position among all-rounders for the first time in the latest ICC Test Rankings. Currently, Jadeja is also the No.1 bowler in the ICC Test rankings.

Jadeja played a huge role in India’s win in the second Test, smashing an unbeaten 70 batting at No. 9 and then taking 2 for 84 in Sri Lanka’s first innings and finally capping off with a match-winning performance by picking up his ninth five-for in the Sri Lankan second innings.

And the performance helped him take a giant stride in the rankings for both all-rounders and batsman. Apart from securing the top spot in the all-rounder's chart, the Saurashtra local has gained nine places to reach no. 51 among batsmen. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha also jumped to a career-best 44th spot after his half-century against the Lankans.

Indian pacers Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav have also made significant progress in the bowlers' rankings as Shami moved three places up to reach 20th position, while Yadav moved to the 22nd position from his previous 25th position.

Among the batsmen, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane made notable movements after their respective centuries in the second Test helped India take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match Test series. Pujara’s knock of 133 runs helped him reach a career-high third position while Rahane moved from 11th to the fifth position.

In the team rankings, despite England’s 3-1 series win against South Africa, India remain comfortably-placed at the top of the rankings with 123 points. Moreover, India will lose only one ranking point if they lose the third and final Test at Pallekele, while a win will take them up to 125 points.
