Adam Lyth was at his explosive-best in the match against Northamptonshire in the Natwest T20 Blast smashing 161 runs off just 73 balls to help his side score a colossal 260 runs in 20 overs. Lyth's innings helped Yorkshire to a 124-run win and helped them climb to the second spot on the table.

Yorkshire opener Adam Lyth wreaked havoc with the bat in the Natwest T20 Blast encounter against Northamptonshire on Thursday. The 29-year old started the Yorkshire innings alongside Tom Kohler-Cadamore and made his intentions clear right from the outset of his innings smashing a six on the last delivery of the first over of the match.

Lyth then took charge of the innings and reached his fifty in a matter of just 22 deliveries while his opening partner was still at 9 runs off 11 deliveries. Lyth continued to play attacking cricket against the Northamptonshire bowling attack that was struggling to find an answer to the 29-year old's brutal hitting and the home team found the first breakthrough in the 10th over when Cadamore was dismissed for 41 bringing down curtains on a 127-run partnership.

However, this did not stop Lyth who continued his carnage, scoring at a strike rate of over 200 and brought up his maiden T20 century in the 14th over. Lyth was brilliantly supported by David Wiley at the other end and the two knit a brilliant 121-run partnership to power Yorkshire's score to 250 runs at the end of 19 overs. Lyth's innings finally came to an end on the fourth delivery of the 20th over but the 29-year old had done enough damage to help Yorkshire reach the highest domestic T20 score of 260 at the end of the stipulated 20 overs. Lyth hit a total of twenty fours and seven sixes during the course of his brilliant 161-run innings which is the third highest score ever in T20 cricket.
