Sri Lanka have dropped Test skipper Dinesh Chandimal from their limited-overs squad for the three-match ODI series starting December 10. However, SLC have recalled Asela Gunaratne and Danushka Gunathilaka for the first three matches of the limited overs series that will be followed by a T20I series.

Chandimal, who played a brilliant 164 run knock, which helped Sri Lanka score 373 in the first innings of the third Test, will not feature in the upcoming ODI matches. Sri Lankan cricket is facing a very challenging phase in their history and have been experimenting with their squad in recent months. Last week they named Thisara Perera as ODI skipper in the place of Upul Tharanga after suffering three consecutive whitewashes under Tharanga’s captaincy.

Gunaratne, who was injured in July against India in Galle, has been declared fit to join the squad. He will strengthen the batting order along with Angelo Matthews, who missed the last ODI series against Pakistan due to injury. The ODI series will start on December 10 in Dharamsala and the remaining two ODIs will be played on December 13 and 17 in Mohali and Visakhapatnam respectively.

ODI squad: Thisara Perera (capt), Upul Tharanga, Danushka Gunathilaka, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Sadeera Samarawickrama, Lahiru Thirimanne, Angelo Mathews, Asela Gunaratne, Chathuranga de Silva, Sachith Pathirana, Akila Dananjaya, Jeffrey Vandersay, Dushmantha Chameera, Suranga Lakmal, Nuwan Pradeep.
