Kerala set to push BCCI for lifting Sreesanth’s ban

Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) president, and BCCI’s vice-president, TC Mathew has insisted that they will write to the BCCI to lift the ban currently imposed on S Sreesanth for his involvement in spot-fixing in the 2013 IPL. The KCA is desperate for Sreesanth’s availability in the Ranji Trophy.
Sreesanth, who turns 34 today, was banned for life by the BCCI for being involved in the spot-fixing scandal during the 2013 IPL season. However, the KCA are now willing to push for his return to domestic cricket with TC Mathew insisting that he has served his punishment long enough.
“He lost two years of his career when he was in his prime. Our next step would be to bring him back to active cricket at the earliest,” Mathew was quoted as saying by the Deccan Chronicle.

“We will discuss with our lawyers and then write to the BCCI president and secretary to lift the ban so that he can try to make himself available for Kerala as well as Indian cricket team.
“His comeback need not be straightaway into Ranji cricket as there are so many other tournaments. Once the ban is lifted it will be up to the selectors to decide,” he added.
Aakash Chopra and S Sreesanth were recently involved in an exchange of words on the Twitter after the former India opener said Sreesanth should not be a part of the game again because of his involvement in spot-fixing, while the pacer said he has served his punishment and is now ready to make a comeback.
