Bangladesh's first Test in India saw the hosts flex their batting muscle fully as a huge first-innings score saw them make it seven wins in as many series. Virat Kohli scored a customary double-ton in the first innings and the Indian pacers then outdid the spinners for once to seal the 208-run win.

Day 1: Bangladesh began their first day of Test cricket in India with a wicket in the very first over. That high didn't last long as all of the other Indian batsmen punished the Bangladesh bowlers heavily. Murali Vijay was the first to score a century and Cheteshwar Pujara got a brilliant 83. Taskin Ahmed was the only Bangladeshi bowler who did anything of note on Day 1, and even though he did beat the batsmen a few times, he could not prevent them from scoring heavily. After Vijay and Pujara, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane combined from another big partnership and Virat had completed yet another century at the end of the first day.

Day 2: Staying true to form, this century too was converted into a double century. He has now hit 4 double centuries in 4 consecutive Test series, surpassing Don Bradman and Rahul Dravid, who both had 3. Ajinkya Rahane missed his century and was out on 82. Wriddhiman Saha, though, went ahead and completed his century on his comeback to the Indian team, and Ravindra Jadeja swung his bat a few times to score a quickfire 50 as well. India declared on 687/6, and Umesh Yadav got the wicket of Bangladesh opener Soumya Sarkar before the close of play.

Day 3: After having a bad start to their innings, Bangladesh needed to have a big partnership. What they got instead was a terrible mix-up that resulted in Tamim Iqbal's run-out, and were soon down to 109/4 before their two most senior batsmen, Shakib Al Hasan and Musqfiqur Rahim revived their innings. Shakib got out after scoring 82 but Mushfiq went on to score a century and offspinner Mehedi Hasan also hit a half-century to get Bangladesh to within 100 runs of the follow-on mark. Neither Ashwin nor Jadeja could get any purchase from the wicket and that helped the Bangladesh batsmen.

Day 4: Kohli, though, did not enforce the follow-on and asked Bangladesh to bowl again. India batted for only one session on the fourth day, but scored at 5.48 runs per over to declare at 159. Pujara got his second fifty of the match, scoring 54 off just 58 balls while Rahane, Jadeja and Kohli played entertaining cameos to set the debutants a target of 459 in 4 sessions.

Day 5: Bangladesh soon foud out what is it like batting in one of the scariest situations in cricket - fourth innings on a subcontinent tracks. The pitch, that had begun turning now, was made full of by Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Bangladesh did better than what was expected of them and except Tamim Iqbal, all of their batsmen got starts, but only Mahmadullah carried on to get a 50. Opener Soumya Sarkar also got a 42 but Bangladesh soon capitulated under immense pressure as both Ashwin and Jadeja ended with 4 wickets each to take India's unbeaten streak in Test matches to 19.
