Rise of a star - T Natarajan

There couldn't have been a better platform like IPL in India where superstars are born out of a common man over the night. This year brings another crorepati from nowhere and he is already a household name in India now by grabbing a whopping 3 crores bid in IPL 2017 auction.

T Natarajan, who rose to fame in Tamilnadu Premier league, is in the headlines for attracting huge sum of money. He has been picked by the Kings XI Punjab franchise for this season’s IPL and will be still wondering about his luck.

The Tamil Nadu pacer was not a regular leather-ball player until 2012 but was a champion tennis ball player for his local team in Chinnappampatti, a place near Salem. He Eventually moved up the ladder to play in the first division league under TNCA. Later he debuted against Bengal in 2015-16 for first class cricket but luck didn't favour the guy. But he made a roaring comeback in the Tamil Nadu premier League, playing for Dindigul Dragons. T Natarajan hails from a very poor background and it is not the highlight. The highlight is that you be rich or poor but if you have talent, it is going to be recognized. If not anywhere, definitely in IPL. After all the motto of IPL was the same, encourage the local Indian cricketers and groom them for a bigger stage. T Natarajan is a left-hand pacer who can bowl the cutters and yorkers during the crunch time. He made a lot of news with his death bowling in the Tamilnadu premier league.

He was not handpicked just like that but had been called for trials by five franchises. Finally, he is in the place where he would not even have dreamt of. His father is a daily-wage worker and his mother is a street-side vendor. It is difficult for parents to dream of such a huge opportunity for their children.

I must say it is not T Natarajan who is the happiest man around today but his parents are. Not just because their son has earnt the money but because he has made it to the big league of cricket in spite of the hardship he faced. There are many reasons why we love the game of cricket in India and T Natarajan is one such to love this game. No matter of caste or creed, if you have the good cricketing talent, you are going to be a star in India and this is another reason to love the game of cricket.
