Shane Warne and Michael Vaughan had some friendly banter on Twitter about Australia's exceptional bowling performance against India in the first Test match in Pune today. The conversation ended with Vaughan claiming that the only way England could win the Ashes is if Warne selected the team.

In an action-packed day in the first Test in Pune, India lost their last 7 wickets for just 11 runs, setting them up for a chance to take the lead in the four-match series. However, Aussie legend Shane Warne took the opportunity to take a shot at former English captain Michael Vaughan on England's performance in the sub-continent.

Vaughan, however, came back strongly stating that if it were up to Warne, O'Keefe would not be in the Australian team in India. Vaughan was referring to a quote by Warne, where the Australian had called O'Keefe a white-ball specialist rather than a Test player. “I think O’Keefe is more of a white ball specialist. I don’t think he’s a red ball player. I know he bowls very economically and he’s a good cricketer but I think he’s a lot better suited to white-ball cricket," Warne had said.

Warne was not done yet as he took another shot at the English and their dismay performance in India in the Test series that the home side won 4-0.

But the Englishman was having none of it and retorted with some classic English humour.

Please Please @CricketAus make @ShaneWarne a Selector.... It could be our only way of retaining the Ashes this winter ... #Cheers

Whether or not the tour of India will have anything to do with the mentality in the Ashes remains to be seen, but any banter with the English as long as it does not involve Piers Morgan is an enjoyable affair of the highest quality.
