Brett Lee has revealed that his 10-year-old son’s favourite cricketer is Virat Kohli and recalled an incident when the Indian skipper gave a personalised autographed t-shirt for his son. The former tear-away Aussie pacer has also heaped praise on Kohli’s brilliant art of controlled aggression.

With his sublime artistry with the bat, Virat Kohli has created a huge fan base in the country and abroad. Brett Lee also echoed the same feelings at SNR College in Coimbatore while promoting the second edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) on Saturday. The 40-year-old said that his son is a big fan of the Indian skipper and narrated an incident when Kohli gifted his son a signed T-shirt.

“My 10-year-old son’s favourite batsman is Virat Kohli. Once, when Kohli walked past me and we shook hands, I told him that you are my son’s favourite batsman. Kohli showed a great gesture when he gave my son one of his Test shirts signed – with best wishes, Kohli,” Lee was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

Ever since his transformation from a bad-boy like character to a statesman-like leader, Kohli has exhibited several moments of generosity on defeat and controlled passion for the game. As recently as the Champions Trophy final, Kohli’s grace in defeat and generous praise of Pakistan was lauded and applauded by almost everyone. Lee also shared the same sentiment and praised the 28-year-old’s passion for the game.

“He is brilliant on the pitch. He has got that control and aggression. I love the way he plays cricket. I think he is passionate, he doesn’t go over the line and he is the best batsman in the world currently,” he said.
