An unnamed BCCI official has said that Virender Sehwag will have to tone down his natural outspoken nature if he’s handed the reins of the Indian cricket team. Sehwag and Ravi Shastri are currently the two front-runners for the coveted job, following Anil Kumble's controversial resignation.

The opportunity to be Team India's next coach is up for grabs after Anil Kumble's departure on June 20 and as things stand, Ravi Shastri and Virender Sehwag have emerged as the two most likely names to be the next Indian coach. While the former has the backing of the current Indian skipper, the latter has the BCCI treasurer on his side.

Speaking of the current situation regarding the appointment of the next coach, the Deccan Chronicle quoted a BCCI spokesperson saying, “Currently, no other candidate is the front runner but one never knows. We still have a few days more to receive the applications.”

But the spokesperson also had a word of caution for Sehwag as he added, “Yes, Viru is outspoken on social media. But then, if he is appointed, he would be instructed to keep his mouth shut. Our fear is that he would just say, ‘so what?’, if India loses a match or a series. That would surely ruffle the feathers of important people.”
