Ravindra Jadeja has overtaken his spin bowling partner Ravichandran Ashwin to go top of the ICC Test bowlers' rankings. After his exceptional performance in the Ranchi Test. Cheteshwar Pujara, too, made inroads as he climbed to a career-best No.2, following his fabulous knock of 202 runs in Ranchi.

Jadeja claimed 9 wickets in the recently concluded match between India and Australia to get India agonizingly close to taking the lead in the ongoing series. Ashwin, on the other hand, struggled to get into his groove claiming just 3 wickets in the entire match which has resulted in him conceding the top spot. Jadeja now sits with a career-high 899 rating points followed by Ashwin on 862. The Indian duo are closely followed by Rangana Herath, who was on the losing side in the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh match.

Cheteshwar Pujara was also rewarded for his brilliant 202 against the Aussies in Ranchi. The double hundred slingshot the Saurashtra batsman to a career-best second rating of 861, into second place on the table. Virat Kohli's struggles with the bat have seen him drop another 21 rating points as he remained fourth on the table. Steve Smith still tops the table and extended his lead thanks to his 178* in the first innings against India.

It wasn't a good day for Ashwin he as he was displaced as the best Test all-rounder as well by Bangladesh’s as Shakib Al Hasan. The Bangladesh star took six wickets in Colombo, along with a century in the first innings to replace Ashwin at the top of the pile. Ashwin is second on the list and is being pursued relentlessly by Jadeja, who scored a quick fire half century of his own in Ranchi.
