Kohli hits back at "weak" Australian critics
Virat Kohli has finally come out to answer his critics after India beat Australia in the final Test in Dharamsala today to regain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Kohli hit out at the Aussie critics claiming that it was easy to be deprecatory whilst "writing in a blog or speaking behind the microphone".
Although India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia today, it has been a series to forget for Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who failed to deliver with the bat in the first three Tests and sat out of the final one due to a shoulder injury. The 28-year-old has received criticism from many publications in Australia that have varied over many issues.
Now, however, Kohli has hit back at all his Australian critics in the last press conference of the series stating, "It's fine, I was targeted individually and I hadn't done well in the series. So opportunities galore for everyone to come out and speak about meâ.
"I've heard a very wise person tell me that when a person is down, the weak come out and speak about him".
Kohli acknowledged the fact that he is a hot topic of discussion, regardless of his performances saying, âWhen I've done well in the past, people have spoken about me. When I haven't done well I obviously expect them to come out and say all sorts of things.â
Finally, Kohli had a dig at the individuals whoâve bashed him during the series claiming that itâs easier to write a blog or talk behind a microphone, rather than coming out and competing on the field. "It's obviously very easy to sit at home and write a blog or speak behind the (microphone). I think that's easier than coming out and competing on the field. That's all I have to say about that,"Â Kohli added.
This was aimed at former Aussie pacer Mitchell Johnson who had tweeted, "Rahane should stay captain! It was a tough series but I believe it should stay on the field with the playersâ.
