Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay are likely to miss the entire duration of the Indian Premier League, owing to the injury concerns sustained during the long home season. It has also been learnt that Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav may also sit out the early stages of their team’s campaigns.

IPL 2017’s injury list keeps growing, even a week before it takes off. Now, Wisden India has reported that Ashwin and Murali Vijay are the latest ones in the list, who are set to miss the tournament.

The Tamil Nadu batsman has to mend his shoulder as a result of which he missed the final Test against England in Chennai in December and also the second Test against Australia in Bangalore. Earlier, Vijay was replaced by Glenn Maxwell as Kings XI Punjab skipper.

Meanwhile, Ashwin and Jadeja are in for some much-needed rest after bowling well over 4000 deliveries during the home Test season.

Ashwin underwent scans in Mumbai after the final Test against Australia in Dharamsala and might not feature in the Rising Pune Supergiant's campaign, at all. The Pune-based franchise will be led by Steve Smith this year after MS Dhoni was sent down the pecking order.

Ravindra Jadeja, on the other hand, is expected to feature in the later stage of the Gujarat Lions’ campaign. Umesh Yadav will also miss the initial stages of Kolkata Knight Riders’ season after leading the Indian pace attack in 12 of the 13 home Test matches and picking up 30 wickets in the process.

Finally, apart from Vijay, all other Indian players are expected to feature in the Champions Trophy that takes place in England and Wales from June 1, after the IPL ends on May 21.
