IPL 2017: Virender Sehwag: Virat Kohli knows how to get back to good form

Virender Sehwag has backed Virat Kohli, who is going through a dismal run of form, by saying all players endure rough patches. Kohli has had an indifferent IPL 2017, scoring just 250 runs at an average of just over 27, but Sehwag feels that it’s only a matter of time before Kohli comes good, again.

They say form is temporary while class is permanent. Kings XI Punjab’s mentor Virender Sehwag certainly seems to endorse this theory. Though the RCB and India skipper have had an uncharacteristic last few months and his bad run has continued into IPL 2017, Sehwag has backed the skipper to come good, sooner rather than later.

NDTV reported Sehwag as saying, “It (a bad patch) happens with every player. Even if you look at the great Sachin Tendulkar, he hasn't played the same (way) every year. Even your (media) questions keep changing time to time. When time changes, form also changes. The hallmark of a good player is who can come out of bad form and Virat knows very well how to come back into good form."

Sehwag’s side won a high-scoring thriller at the Wankhede against the Mumbai Indians on Thursday, but despite the win Kings XI Punjab face the Rising Pune Supergiant in a make or break encounter on Sunday. And even if they win that game, they’re still not assured of a spot in the playoffs as they need other results to go their way,

Finally, Sehwag addressed the tricky situation saying,  "Our qualification depends on other teams. If (Rising) Pune (Supergiant) lose and (Sunrisers) Hyderabad lose, or KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) lose then we have a chance to qualify. We have to maintain the run-rate and only then we can qualify."
