Unlike the first Test, there have been no signs of assistance for the spinners in the second Test between Bangladesh and Australia, but when the opportunity came calling, Mushfiqur Rahim messed that up. The wicket-keeper failed to effect a stumping despite David Warner being way outside his crease.

The first day of the Chittagong Test ended with both Bangladesh and Australia on an even keel with the hosts scoring 253 for 6. Nathan Lyon picked up five of the six wickets fallen on the day one before adding two more to his tally on the second day to end up with a seven-wicket haul. However, when Australia started their first innings, the wicket started behaving differently as there has been no shade of turn on the second day, so far.

While the hosts were looking for wickets, on the first ball of the 56th over, Warner came down the track to hit a Mehedi Hasan delivery over midwicket, but ended up missing it completely. While it was an easy chance for any wicket-keeper behind the stumps, Rahim messed that up as not only did he fail to collect the ball, he couldn't even get his gloves to the ball, that ended up deflecting off his pads to give Warner a second lifeline of the day. As much as Rahim's mistake was unpardonable, Warner was also guilty of unnecessarily stepping down the wicket at the fag end of the day.

Earlier, in the 39th over of the innings, Warner was dropped by Mominul Haque at short leg. Eventually, Warner went on to score unbeaten 88 runs and is all set to complete his 20th Test century. Although Rahim’s stupidity cost the hosts their third wicket, he had shown his brilliance behind the wicket by claiming a brilliant driving catch to earn his team the first breakthrough of the innings.
