Harsha Bhogle trolls World XI team after Pakistan loss

Harsha Bhogle has taken a dig at the World XI team on social media by saying that such a collection of players always attract a lot of attention but never actually win matches. In the first T20 match in Lahore, Pakistan thrashed the World XI team by 20 runs to take a slender lead in the series.

Following the overwhelming support of the ICC, Pakistan have successfully organised the Independence Cup to revive cricket in the country. Pakistan faced a home ban after the 2009 terror attack, in which terrorists targetted the Sri Lanka Cricket team bus which was carrying the side to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

Later, the ICC took the initiative of getting cricket back to Pakistan by organising three T20Is matches between Pakistan and a World XI. Pakistan welcomed back international cricket in the country with a 20-run win over the World XI side. Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter to question the concept of the World XI teams.

This is not the first time that a World XI team has failed to perform in such matches. In 2005, the ICC World XI played three ODIs against Australia where the World XI team lost all three matches, and the only Test match by 210 runs.

In Yesterday's match, the World XI won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first. Babar Azam’s knock of 86 runs helped Pakistan to post a total of 197 in the allotted 20 overs. On the other hand, the World XI could only manage 177 runs in the front of Pakistan’s impressive bowling attack. With this victory, Pakistan tool a 1-0 lead in the three match series. The second match will be played today in Lahore.
