The uncertainty over Australia’s home season continued as there is still no clarity about India’s day-night Test to be played in Adelaide. A CA spokesperson revealed that they are finalising the details of this home summer with South Africa, India, and Sri Lanka being the touring nations.

Day-night Test cricket has become an integral part of Australia’s cricketing summer. They played the first-ever pink-ball Test in November 2015 against New Zealand and in the next summer (2016), there were two pink-ball Tests as South Africa and Pakistan played the day-night Test at Adelaide and Brisbane respectively. Adelaide then hosted the first-ever Ashes day-night Test in December 2017.

However, there is a lot of uncertainty over this year’s summer with India not yet giving their approval over the pink-ball test. The schedule of the Australian summer was to be announced in February but was delayed with uncertainty over the pink-ball Adelaide Test against India. The announcement of schedule is set to be postponed even further as CA is consumed with the fallout of the ball-tampering saga.

“We are currently finalising the detail of these tours with respective member boards. Scheduling of any sport has its complexities, with a number of parties that need to be consulted throughout the process,” a CA spokesperson was quoted saying by Cricbuzz.

South Africa will start Australia’s home summer with a limited-overs series. India will then play four Test matches followed by limited-overs series and Sri Lanka will then travel to Australia to finish the latter’s home season.

As reported by Cricbuzz, the new Perth Stadium (which hosted the ODI between Australia and England) will host the first Test of the summer while Adelaide will host the second before the traditional Boxing Day and New Year's Tests in Melbourne and Sydney respectively. The Gabba will host one of the Tests against Sri Lanka while Canberra will get to host its inaugural Test match in the Sri Lanka series.
