Ishan Kishan should be fine in one or two days, says Rohit Sharma
Ishan Kishan suffered a nasty blow to his right eye, in a rather unfortunate incident on Tuesday, which forced him to leave the field after medical attention. However, Mumbai Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is positive towards the situation and has informed that Kishan would be fine to play soon.
Though Mumbai Indians managed to get their first win of the season on Tuesday in four games, it came at the cost of a horrific injury to their in-form wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan. It was in the 13th over, when RCB were looking to up the ante that this incident happened.Â
Kohli had pulled Bumrah straight to Hardik Pandya, who threw the ball to Kishan standing behind the stumps. However, the ball, which was supposed to come to Kishan’s hands in one bounce, landed on an uneven spot near the pitch and bounced awkwardly to hit close to wicket keeper’s right eye. The game had stopped for a while with the Mumbai Indians staff intervening with ice packs and medic kit.
The former U-19 captain had to be taken off the field for medical treatment, which saw Aditya Tare coming in as a substitute
"It was very unfortunate. I haven't checked on him because after the presentation got over I came here (for the press conference). But he seems to be alright. He has some swelling under his eyes which, I guess, should be okay by tomorrow or day after," said Rohit Sharma after the win.
Mumbai Indians would face Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on May 22nd and the Mumbai skipper has maintained a positive outlook towards Kishan’s recovery in time for their next game. If Kishan does not, however, recover for the game, Tare would replace him, who hasn’t played a single full game for the
"We've got a few days before we play the next match - I think 22nd is when we're playing. So we have three-four days in between where we can assess and hopefully he'll be fine," Rohit added.
