Sometimes you need to take one for the team and especially when it comes to run-outs in the sport of cricket where more often than not you fall prey to someone else’s mistake on the pitch. This time it was Quinton De Kock who sacrificed his wicket for the sake of Virat Kohli in today’s match.

Virat Kohli is someone who is renowned for his prowess in running between the wickets and rightly so, the Indian skipper is quick on his feet and is definitely one of the more athletic figures in the national setup. But sometimes quick feet aren’t the only thing that will prevent you from getting yourself out, or in Kohli’s case, someone else.

In tonight’s crunch encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils at the M Chinnaswamy stadium, the Daredevils set RCB a competitive total of 175 from 20 overs. RCB got off to a slow start but SA batsman Quinton De Kock was showing positive signs on the crease with skipper Virat Kohli on the other end after opener Manan Vohra was dismissed early on.

But in a moment of total chaos, Kohli, who was facing Shahbaz Nadeem in the fifth over, took a slight touch of the ball and paced up the pitch for a quick single despite de Kock’s reluctance at the other end. De Kock only just managed to cross Kohli before he was comfortably run-out at the keeper’s end in dramatic fashion. What a way to take one for your skipper!
