This initiative was taken after hurricanes Irma and Maria severely damaged the grounds in the East Caribbean. The Hurricane Relief T20 challenge cup will be played in England’s Lords and BCCI has revealed that India’s Pandya and Karthik will be a part of the World XI.
“Hardik and Dinesh will be part of the World XI team for the charity match,” said Chaudhury on the sidelines of the ICC meeting.
Apart from them, other Asian players who have confirmed their participation in the World XI team are Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, Bangladesh veteran Shakib Al Hasan and opener Tamim Iqbal. Sri Lanka’s Thisara Perera and Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik will also play.
The venues that will be benefitted from the funds raised include Anguilla’s Ronald Webster Park, Antigua’s Sir Viv Richards Stadium, Dominica’s Windsor Park Stadium, British Virgin Islands’ A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground and St. Maarten’s Carib Lumber Ball Park.
