Despite being a good keeper in Tests, where he has earned praise for his reflexes and anticipation, Wriddhiman Saha has never really sold himself as MS Dhoni’s replacement. However, the Bengal player made a statement against KXIP after his sharp eye from behind the stumps saved SRH a review.

For years now, every Indian fan is waiting to see who would replace MS Dhoni in the national team and provide the same impeccable instinct and vision that the former skipper has provided for the last decade or so. However, while many have come to the fore showing real promise, none has actually lived up to the expectation.

Saha has been the only one to successfully replace Dhoni in one of the formats and although he has done pretty well there, he is yet to convince the management about his intuition. While he has shown brilliant movements and thinking, keeping Indian spinners on the toughest of tracks, Virat Kohli has never really counted on him when it came to calling the DRS reviews.

However, Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson has surprisingly shown faith in the wicketkeeper and, on Thursday, the Kiwi pretty much showed that he trusts him way more than Kohli.

After Rashid Khan trapped Karun Nair plumb on the front foot with a peach of a delivery on the fourth ball of the 13th over, the confident Afghanistan spinner came up with another brilliant ball to catch Manoj Tiwary off-guard. Tiwary came striding forward expecting the ball to spin back, but Rashid’s leg-break spun away and got the right height as well.

After the field official gave a not-out, Rashid was more than confident that it had hit the pads on the right spot and immediately signalled for Williamson to go for the review. However, Saha came out quickly to point out that the ball was high and after a short discussion with the skipper, Hyderabad decided not to go for the review. And the replays showed that Saha was spot on with his analysis as the ball was going to go well above the stumps.
