India vs England | Not very proud of our performance in such conditions, says Virat Kohli

Indian cricket team’s captain Virat Kohli has said that he is not very proud of the way the team played in the second Test match against England. Kohli has added that he won’t crib about not having the best of conditions throughout the match as a team should be able to counter it at that level.

India succumbed to an innings and 159-run defeat in the second Test at Lord’s to trail the five-match Test series 2-0. This was India’s first innings defeat under Kohli’s captaincy and the he Indian skipper did not give excuses for the embarrassing loss.

Kohli said that he was not proud of the way his team played as they were outplayed for the first time in last five Test matches. He gave full credit to the English team as they were clinical and felt they the home team deserved to win the match after such a performance.

“Not very proud of the way we played, to be honest. First time in last five Test matches we have been outplayed. Credit to England as they were clinical and when a team plays like that they deserve to be on the winning side,” Kohli said in the post-match interview.

Not giving excuses the Indian captain further said that he won’t crib about not having the best of conditions throughout the match as a team should be able to counter it as and when they come.

“Won’t sit around and say that we didn’t have the best of conditions. You have to counter the conditions as and when they come to you. Can’t crib about these things as sometimes the rub of green will go your way too,” he added.
