The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) gave a show-cause notice to 13 players for questioning current skipper Sachin Baby’s leadership and for 'attempting to spoil harmony’ in the team. Sanju Samson, Rohan Prem, and Raiphi Vincent Gomez are among the 13 players, who have been handed the notice.

By issuing the show-cause notice, KCA has cleared that any reckless behaviour on part of the players will not be tolerated. Further, the notice also indicates that they are considering any kind of leadership change in the team. After a preliminary inquiry was conducted to look into the matter, it was discovered that the players had accused Sachin on baseless grounds. A committee of four members inquired 11 players, exempting Sanju Samson and MD Nidheesh. Sanju Samson is currently in Vijayawada, playing for India A.

The decision to issue the notice came after that. KCA was quite upset with a few senior players for the way they challenged the skipper's leadership. KCA believes that the whole issue was blown out of proportion as some senior took interest in this matter. Further, Sanju Samson, Salman Nizar, Mohammed Azharuddin and Akshay KC has been show-cause notice separately by the KCA for being absent without authorization at the KSCA tournament in Bengaluru in July.

“We have made it clear to the players that we won't tolerate any indiscipline. Also in this episode, we don't feel that all the 13 players were on the same page when some of the players decided to demand a change in leadership. We feel some of the senior players prevailed upon the juniors to sign on the letter. Once we get their response, we will decide on the next future course of action, KCA secretary Sreejith V Nair told TOI.
