Kumar Sangakkara has stated that Indian batsmen have adjusted well with the conditions at Trent Bridge and are playing balls in a steady manner in order to not repeat the same mistakes and hold the game in their favour. He also credited the partnership of Kohli and Rahane for their development.

Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul looked good as they played close to the body and didn't poke outside the off-stump too often. The next hour saw England's second Test hero strike back getting Dhawan with a beauty and KL Rahul with an lbw (65-2). After coming one down on the crease, Cheteshwar Pujara played a very short knock of just 14 runs and failed to occupy the crease. However, Skipper Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane held the game well as they maintained a steady partnership to put England under pressure.

Former Sri Lanka skipper, Kumar Sanagkkarra believes that Indian batsmen have done a good homework between the second and the third Test. They have adjusted well with the conditions at Trent bridge and are playing in an absolutely steady manner so that they don't repeat the same mistakes again and hold the game in their favour

“conditions at Trent bridge were not as taxing, the pitch is a bit more easy-paced, but the Indian batsmen adjusted extremely well to facing the English bowlers after the first couple of Tests. Batsmen tightened up their techniques with the way they defended the ball , they played it a lot later than before and left it better than before. They also drove the ball with more extension rather than flourish and put the bad deliveries away,” Sangakkara said to Skysports.

He spoke largely of the partnership maintained by Indian skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane. He specifically mentioned about Rahane’s techniques and how they have developed after the second Test at Lords.

“you must give credit to the work they did between Lords and here, allowing India to build partnerships, particularly Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane’s 159  run stand for the fourth wicket. I think Rahane has a good technique, he is very compact and simple in his set up. He has all the shots and also a strong mind to be able to put bad patch behind him and focus on what works on the day. He had snatching Tests at Edgbaston and Lord's but has now come out and shown what he is capable of,” Sangakkara concluded.
