England have brought in Moeen Ali and Sam Curran into the side for the fourth Test against India at Southampton. While Surrey player Curran has come in for Chris Woakes, who's is struggling with a thigh injury, spinner Moeen Ali will get his first game of the series in place of Ollie Pope.

Chris Woakes had been fortunate enough to get a recall for the Test side for the ongoing series between India and England when he came in as a replacement for Ben Stokes who had to leave the side after the first Test due to his trials. Woakes proved to be a perfect replacement as he took two crucial wickets and scored his maiden Test century to mark the victory for England in the second Test match.

As Ben Stokes arrived after getting a decision of being not-guilty, the English team management had to go through a tough decision of selecting among players like Sam Curran, who was the man of the match in the first Test, Chris Woakes, who was the man of the match in the second Test, and Ben Stokes, who took three crucial match winning wickets in the first Test. And eventually, Joe Root decided to drop Curran from the starting 11 for the third Test.

However, the English team management has included Curran back in the playing 11 as a replacement for Chris Woakes who is struggling with a thigh injury. Along with Curran, the team management has also included Moeen Ali, who shall be replacing Ollie Pope. Root also confirms that Bairstow will play as a specialist batsman and Jos Buttler will keep the wickets for the Three Lions.

"Jos Buttler is going to keep. It's a lot to ask Jonny to do it with a broken finger, but he's fit to bat. We have to do the best thing for this team to win the game. There are no guarantees in international sport," Root said.

"Moeen Ali has done exactly what you'd want him to do," Root said. "He's been scoring runs and taking wickets in county cricket and should be full of confidence. We've bounced back from difficult defeats before and that's the challenge for us to do it again here."
