Virat Kohli lauded the efforts of his bowling unit which was pivotal in the win against Australia in the series opener and revealed that there is a lot of belief in the abilities of the bowlers now. India will look to go 2-0 up in the series as they take on the hosts in the second Test in Perth.

India currently leads the four-match Test series against Australia 1-0 as they registered a hard-fought 31-run win in the series opener in Adelaide last Monday. Cheteshwar Pujara starred with the bat as he scored 123 and 71 in both innings to help the visitors start the highly-speculated series on a positive note.

While the batsmen faltered here and there throughout the first game, the Indian bowling department was at its very best all across the five days of the match. The likes of Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin were all in peak form as they picked up 20 wickets in the entire Test.

And Virat Kohli was full of praise for his bowlers as he revealed that there is a huge amount of belief in the Indian dressing room as far as the bowling unit was concerned.

"We understand that we do have a bowling attack which can bowl the opposition out as much as they are convinced about their attack. When you have four or five fast bowlers who are at the peak of their ability, it's always a great feeling to have in the side.

"For us, as batsmen, it also gives us a lot of motivation and boosts us up that we can put in those match-winning significant batting performances because we have so much belief in our bowling unit right now. We understand that if we bat well, we will definitely get the result that we want. It's a very exciting phase to be in," Kohli said at the press conference.

Meanwhile, the informed foresight suggests that the pitch at the new ground in Perth will resemble the surfaces that are built at the nearby WACA Ground and will be a paradise for pace bowlers. Kohli revealed that his squad was extremely excited rather than nervous of the lively and vibrant pitch.

"We certainly get more excited than nervous looking at lively pitches now. This looks pretty much like the MCG to be honest. I walked in and felt it was a bit of MCG. I've played on big stadiums before, it's very different to the old Perth stadium (the WACA Ground). But the pitch looks and plays very similar and it's fast, supposed to be fast, so I don't see any major differences. The stadium is beautiful, has a great feel and we're looking forward to getting on the park," Kohli added.
