According to reports by Cricinfo, Prithvi Shaw has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests against Australia due to the injury he had suffered in the practice match. Shaw had made an impressive debut back in October against the Windies where he scored a century in his first international innings.

As India struggle to keep up with Australia in the second Test in Perth, they were dealt with another blow off the field. Prithvi Shaw, who was seen by many as a first choice opener before the start of the tour, has been ruled out of the remaining two Test matches in Melbourne and Sydney. The youngster had suffered an ankle injury in the practice match against CA XI which meant that he had to sit out of the first two Tests. Ravi Shastri had voiced his confidence in the youngster making a comeback in the third Test but it appears that wouldn't be the case.

According to a report by Cricinfo, not only has India removed him from the squad but has also called up Mayank Agarwal to the squad. The 27-year-old has been in exceptional form in domestic cricket, where he averages an impressive 50.30, and there had been a lot of backers to his promotion to the senior side.

India currently find themselves in a huge hole at the New Perth Stadium where they trail the hosts by 175 runs with just five wickets in hand. A major reason for the struggle has been the performance of the openers, who have scored a combined 97 runs in eight innings. In what appears to be a defeat, India would have a big call to make before the Boxing Day Test to decide whether they want to give Agarwal a shot in Melbourne.
