Steven Smith wins Allan Border medal as Ellyse Perry wins Belinda Clark Award

Steven Smith was crowned with the Allan Border medal for the second time in four years as he beat David Warner by 84 votes. After winning the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the year award, Australia’s all-rounder Ellyse Perry was crowned awarded the Belinda Clark Award for the second time in 3 years.
Steve Smith was awarded ICC Test Cricketer of the Year last month and had also been named Australia’s Test player of the year, but that did not stop him from winning the Allan Border medal for the second time in four years for his stellar performances in all the formats for Australia in the past 12 months.Â
The Australian captain defeated David Warner, a 2-time winner himself, and Nathan Lyon to win the award. Smith managed to score 1754 runs across all formats at an average of 67.46 which included 6 centuries and a double century against England in the 4th Ashes Test. He now joins Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Shane Watson, and David Warner as multiple winners of the Allan Border medal.
Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry had defeated India’s Harmanpreet Kaur and New Zealand's Amy Satterthwaite to be crowned as the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year, but her exquisite performance for the national team over the past one year earned her the Belinda Clark Award for the second time in 3 years.Â
She earned this award after scoring 756 runs across all the formats which included a double hundred and a couple of half-centuries. She has also managed to bag 20 wickets to complete her all-round performance for the year.
