Whether it's a bat flying out of batsman's hand or a horrible fielding mess-up, the cricket field has seen many funny incidents over the course of time. Kiwis' Kane Williamson produced the latest one in the game against Pakistan, as his a comical attempt at a run left the commentators in splits.
In what was a match marred by rain during the second innings, the Kiwis emerged victorious courtesy of opener Martin Guptill's blistering knock of 55 off 31 balls after the rain break. He ended his innings unbeaten at 86 as New Zealand reached their revised target of 151 in 25 overs with seven balls to spare under the Duckworth-Lewis revision.
Batting first, Pakistan had made 246/9 in their allotted 50 overs as they were boosted by a late run charge from Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan. However, it was skipper Kane Williamson, who managed to grab the commentators' attention during the innings with his miserable throw. The incident took place in the 48th over when Shadab chipped the ball to the right of mid-off towards the Kiwis captain, who blocked it right.
However, in an attempt to quickly release, Williamson ended up throwing it wayward that went towards the fielder at silly mid-off instead. The ball had surely left his grip and the player looked visibly frustrated for it before he chuckled, and fortunately for him, Pakistan batsmen didn't attempt a run. The commentators were left in splits after the incident and were sarcastically quoted saying ‘that goes down as one of the great returns in the history of the game.' Even his fellow teammate, the wicketkeeper, shouted, "Not good enough".
