India registered a 7-wicket domineering win over Pakistan in the Blind Cricket World Cup group stages as they chased a target of 283 with five overs to spare. Deepak Malik was India’s hero once again as his 79 runs from 71 balls alongside Venkateshwara Rao steered the side to a comfortable victory.

Brief Scores : Pakistan 282/8 (Mohammad Jamil 90 retd hurt) lost to India 285/3 (Deepak Malik 79) by seven wickets.

India’s game against Pakistan was built up around a lot of controversies. After the Men in Blue refused to travel to Pakistan for the World Cup, the organizers were forced to shift all the games to UAE. Consequently, Pakistan had to go into the game with five players absent for selection, who couldn’t get their visas in time to travel for the match.

After India opted to field, Pakistan could score only 282 for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 40 overs with Mohammad Jamil being their top scorer with 90 runs off 91 balls, before he was declared retired hurt. In response, India managed to chase it quite comfortably with seven wickets and five overs to spare.

Deepak Malik was the man of the match again as he ended up being the top scorer with 79 runs from 71 balls alongside Venkateshwara Rao, who scored 64 runs in 55 balls. Malik was India’s top scorer in the last game against Sri Lanka, too, where his brilliant 179 off 103 balls took India to a six-wicket win with eight overs to spare.

India now top the group with two wins in the three games after the opening game against Australia was called off due to heavy rain. Pakistan came into the match quite confidently with back-to-back wins against Bangladesh and Nepal.
