Over the years, fans have seen all sorts of runouts ā€“ be it the Jonty Rhodes one from the 92 World Cup or MS Dhoniā€™s against Bangladesh in the 2016 World T20. In in the BBL, however, Jofra Archer managed to inflict a run out despite having just one stump to aim at and being well off balance.

In the match between Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes, the former won the toss and decided to bat first and got off to a good start putting up 85 runs in 10 overs without losing a single wicket. The Hurricanesā€™ bowlers were getting thrashed all around the ground when Jofra Archer was handed the ball for his final spell in the 18h over. By then not only had he conceded runs at 10 runs an over, the Strikers had managed to score 170 runs with both their openers still at the crease and the Hurricanes knew that only a moment of brilliance could help them claw their way back into the game.Ā

After conceding just one run, leg bye, on the first three balls of the over, Archer decided to take it upon himself to get his side the all-important breakthrough. He pitched the ball on middle stump and Carey was only able to big it back towards mid on. Archer, however, raced towards the ball, put in a dive to his left, and with his momentum taking him backwardsĀ and only one stump to aim at, Archer pulled off the improbable. Due to the confusion created as a result of the dive, the umpires took a few seconds to decide that it was Weatherald who was out.

Carey did not last too long on the wicket though as he was bowled on the very next delivery. Archer then went on to dismiss another couple of players in the last over restricting the strikers to just 187/4 in 20 overs. However, it did not matter in the end because the Hurricanes eventually fell short of their target by 11 runs.Ā
